Garnet Rose Soap Company, LLCOverview
I am writing as the Owner of the Garnet Rose Soap Company, LLC located in West Jefferson NC, a small soap business that makes all Natural, Organic and Gluten Free Handmade Soap. We currently have 2 employees my self Yvonne Clifton-Young(Ms V), Owner and Kevin Eckardt, Co-Owner. We are submitting a proposal for the SEAM Micro-grant for our company to increase production of our product by purchasing new molds for soap making and to add other items (Bath Bombs, Lotions, Body Butters) to keep up with the demand from our vendors and to stay in competition with other competitors in our area. |
Background
The Garnet Rose Soap Company, LLC was formed In November as an LLC and we opened for business online, December 10, 2013. That same month we joined the Chamber of Commerce in Ashe County which gave us our first opportunity for our soaps to be featured in a local store in Downtown West Jefferson. In May of 2014 we joined the Ashe County Farmers Market which gave us exposure to the local community, tourist and lots of networking opportunities. We are proud members of the Handcrafted Soap Guild and fully insured through their sponsorship for up to 2 million dollars for our company at a low cost! In October of 2014 I was honored to join the National Association of Professional Women with the start up of my company and being a young female Entrepreneur. We currently use local fresh goat milk from Heritage Homestead Goat Dairy for our goat milk soaps this has been a wonderful way to help stimulate business with local farmers! As of this day, we are currently in 14 stores in the High Country reaching down to the Charlotte Area and the demand for our soaps is continuing to grow daily, online and at regional festivals, as people start to share their wonderful experience with our company. We joined High Country Local First in hopes of increasing our sales area in the High Country and would like to expand to other communities and cities. We currently have over 45 different Essential Oil Fragrances of soaps. Our competitors in the area offer lotions, creams, deodorant, sugar scrubs, bath bombs, etc. we would like to grow our line to remain competitive.
Project Description
I would like to be able to make more soaps in a week and increase our volume from 120 pounds of soap a week to 200 pounds a week by adding 8 new molds. This way I would be able to make 40 pounds of soap a day and not every other day due to waiting for the soap to set up for 24 hours, the cutting process and storing for 3 to 4 weeks to cure. Being able to make soap everyday increases my volume and allows time for me to have more time to spend on creating other products for our company to sell to keep up with competitors and to keep our stores fully stocked. For instance, we have been asked by the Quilt Square Girls in Downtown, West Jefferson to come up with a body butter or oil fragrances to offer to their customers exclusively. They currently have a non profit they donate a part of their sales to and one of the ladies from that non-profit also offers soap to them to help her Micro Business. We would love to offer our soaps there however we don’t want to take away from the lady and her small business due to our dedication and previous work in Charlotte working with Special Needs and children and adults with disabilities. Below is a small budget plan that will help us purchase more molds to make soap and/or purchase oils, butters and essential oils to continue this project of creating more soap for production and other items our company can offer.
Budget
6 Acrylic 5 pound Soap Molds $522.00
55 lb box of Shea Butter $167.48
55 lb box of Cocoa Butter $214.48
Total $903.96
