How it works

1.) Have an idea that needs funding?

2.) Write 500 words about your idea and how it will impact your work. Including a budget is really helpful and recommended.

3.) A committee of small business leaders choose 3 proposals based upon the creativity, feasibility, readiness, and sustainability of the projects.

4.) Selected proposals pitch their idea at a locally-sourced dinner (open to the community) on April 25th, 2016 at The New Public House. At the dinner, attendees choose to fund each project at 3 different levels (60%, 30%, and 10%) of the crowd-sourced funds raised through the dinner ticket sales.

April 25th Dinner

Submissions

For our fifth dinner, we are excited to invite all emerging High Country entrepreneurs to submit an idea. Awards of less than $1,000 can go toward funding a new tool, infrastructure improvement, conference fees, or any other project which will help you develop and grow as an emerging entrepreneur.
  • Tell us in around 500 words about your idea and how it will impact your work. Including a budget is really helpful and recommended.
  • All proposals will be considered.
  • Email submissions were accepted until April 1st, 2015 at 5 PM.
Past SEAM Dinner projects may apply again, however the Selection Committee will be notified that they were a previously awarded project.

Selection

Proposals will be anonymously screened by a panel of small business leaders, who will choose three projects. Selection criteria is based upon the creativity, feasibility, readiness, and sustainability of the projects. Applicants will then notified and given feedback from the panel within a week or two.

Funding

The three selected applicants will present their proposals to community members at a locally-sourced dinner on April 25th, 2016. The dinner will be hosted at The New Public House in Blowing Rock, North Carolina with ticket sales providing project funding. All are invited to attend. All three projects will receive awards, but with varying levels of investment. Following the presentations, dinner attendees will choose to fund each project at three levels (60%, 30%, and 10%) of the crowd-sourced funds raised through the dinner tickets.
